It seems for every site/video I see they tell me where the PSU's cables go for the mobo and CPU, but then afterwards they just say, "Then plug the others in..." So can someone tell me or link me to a site that explains what connector pins/cables go where and what they look like, please. Thanks! (It's urgent, I'm building my best friend a computer for her birthday and it's in two days!!!)

Newegg has some nice videos on Youtube that might help.

The 4+4 pin one goes by the CPU; if the board has a four-pin socket only one half will fit, if eight use the whole thing.

24-pin one goes by the chipset.

The two 6+2-pin cables go to your GPU; it might not use all of them, and might only use 6-pin ones.

The flat black SATA plugs connect to your HDD, SSD, or ODD.

The four-in-a-row connectors might power fans, or the fans may plug directly into the board.

Yup, but ignore all the IDE and floppy stuff. Some bits are kind of obsolete.

start with taking the cable octopus apart and with some masking tape label the cables. you pull the tape off as you plug the cables in. the main cable is the 24 plus four cable you see that connector on the mb and it keyed. the other main cable on the motherboard is the eight pin pci power cable. on most modular power supply it be a two four plug cable with a clip in the middle to lock it together. the six pin and six plus two and the eight pin black cables are for the video power cables.
these should have another color plug (blue) on the other end and plug into the same color port on the power supply.
the optinal cables are the fan and floppy and the molex (four pin small keyed cables) and the sata port cables.
the sata power cables will power the hard drives/ssd/cr-rom. the fan cable will power and aftermarket fan that needs power that you cant run off the mb. the molex power most times used for led for case or a fan controller.
the sata power cable if there only one your going to have to see what end is longer on it to try and reach the top cd-rom drive and all the drives and get back to the power supply.
