Hi All,

Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to offer.

I recently purchased an Asus R9 280x direct CUII TOP 3gb graphics card.

I am running the card at the out of the box speeds.

1070 on the GPU
6400 on the memory
The only thing in GPU Tweak that I have changed is the fan curve.

Every game I try to play with it, i come across graphical errors / artifacts.
Far Cry 3 / Battlefield 4 / Hitman Absolution / Need for speed Most wanted.

Please have a look at the following you tube video that I made to help in showing the issue.

- Sides of the screen seem to strecth or warp at times during gameplay.
- Small black sqaures of "checkerbox" appear every so often.
- brightly coloured flashes during gameplay
- I am also seeing "spikey" artifacts quite often. Large areas of the screen with the textures stretched in large spikey shapes, darting all over the place.

I will list the things I have tried to remedy these problems.

- removed and re-seated the card.
- updated the card bios from asus.
- tried the latest beta catalyst drivers from AMD
- tried the stable catalyst drivers from AMD
- formatted hard drive, fresh install of windows, all games, all drivers etc etc.
- checked GPU temp, sitting around 63deg whilst seeing these issues
- tried playing games at lower settings - same issues

When I run Uniengine heaven or valley benchmark, i see NONE of the artifacts that i am coming across during gameplay, and it returns reasonable scores.

I am thinking it may be a suspect card and i will return it, a friend had suggested faulty Vram, but thought I would check in here first to see if there are any suggestions of anything that may help.

Cheers

Chris

Solution
I would just return the card if it is still under warranty and ask for a replacement.

The screen warping in farcry 3 in that particular spot is part of that drug mission iirc.

The "warping" in far cry 3 is potentially in game - cannot confirm this at this stage though.

The other artifacts seem to be related to VRAM- from reading many many similiar posts about 280x cards on this site.

Card going back to shop tomorrow - hopefully get a replacement from asus.

RMA'd the card.

Took about 3 1/2 weeks all up.

New card, very similar issues. checker box artefacts. :??:

Going back for a refund first thing Monday.

Will either upgrade to r9 290x which I do not think has the same issues, or maybe even swap to nvidia with a gtx 780.
