So I'm looking to upgrade both my cpu and gpu. I want to purchase a GTX 770 for sure. So my main question is should I save money and buy a 3770k or buy a 4770k along with a new motherborad. My current mother is compatible with the 3770k. But I don't know if I should spend the extra money and upgrade my motherboard along with the cpu, it doesn't matter which cpu I get I will be overclocking it. Also I use the PC for live streaming games and video editing.

This will help you determine:

The price difference is only 5 dollars on Amazon.com, so I'd say you'd be crazy to go with the 3770k. Unless you are getting the 3770k at a much discounted price, definitely stick with the newer 4770k.

I would just get the 3770k then. There really isn't THAT big of a difference between the 3rd and 4th gen versions, especially since you'll be overclocking. It doesn't really make sense to pay at least $100-150 more just for a 5-10% increase in performance.

I misread the fact that you had an 1155 motherboard already. Still, it would be very tempting to go with the newer technology. But I really am an enthusiast. If you're more into the practical side of computers, I would probably say just go with the 3770k as was already said. Then again, you can always sell the 1155 socket motherboard you have on Ebay. Someone out there would pay decent money for it.

Igot a question for you how do you get best answer all the time

LOL I just share the most relevant knowledge that I have on the subject. I just joined here on Tom's, but dude I'm a computer junkie! :p If I were to tell you all the crap that I've read and all the time that I've spent just tinkering with computers you'd probably think I had no life! I really do love computer though. And I honestly do care about finding the problem. The whole time I'm sitting here I'm going through pages trying to find the solution to several things at once.
