I upgraded my graphics card to a gtx 760 instead of the r9 270x for my computer i built with the fx6300 cpu. I heard it was a better choice thats why i chose nvidia. But the tech support of swtor told me i would have been better going with the r9 270x cause its more compatible with my amd cpu and i will have less problems and the r9 270x will perform better. Ive read a lot of builds that recommend the gtx 760 over the r9270x with the fx6300. Is this true. Im confused. Thanks for the help

You can use amd or nvidia gpus interchangeably there shouldnt be an issue with compatibility at all. Most people that do amd or intel/nvidia due so because of fan boying. Unless you really want to change out for amd, i would stick with the nvidia card. its all a matter of preference but any gpu is compatible so long as it fits in the case and you have a psu big enough.

It really varies game to game which is better, bf4 is optimized for amd for example. However, with the new mantle technology the software is supposed to help elliviate some of the bottle necking of the cpu, and even increase performance slightly in all cases(although the 6300 shouldnt bottleneck gtx 760 very much). Nevertheless, both cards have positives and negatives which need to be considered, so dont feel bad about getting the 760 over the r9 270x you might have felt the same way if you got the r9 270x over the 760. Both should easily max out swtor though right?

thank you for your help. Im thinking about returning the 760 for the r9270 cause its my first build and i want things to be compatible. I read of many builds using mostly nvidia over radeon gpu Its confusing
