WOndering what anyone thinks about upgrading from Win 7 Home to Win 8pro or 8.1 and how would it affect gaming (wow, diablo3, DO, SWTOR, etc). any compatibility issues?

(cpu-i7-4770k/GPU-asus gtx 760 DCU2/ 24GB Ram)

Well its free if i choose to take it. My Boss has a few license's left after we upgraded a few office's for work. and asked me if i wanted one wether 8 or 8.1, so i was considering it. i started to when i built that righ a couple months ago, but i stayed with my win 7 home due to not changing hard drives and wanting to keep all my info.

if you have a different hard drive, try to install windows 8/8.1 there
for example
*not in partition* for multiple Hard disk
Drive A = Windows 7 (current OS)
Drive B = Data Drive (a perfect candidate for your windows 8/8.1 installation)

Just select the boot option in your BIOS

*OR* the partition for single hard disk . ( I did this before on my laptop)

Drive A.1= Windows 7 (Current OS)
make a partition (i personally want to make a partition if i have only one drive, i think this would do the job perfect, instead of installing both OS in both partition)
Drive A.2 = new partition for windows 8/8.1

create a partion by goin in your Disk Management using windows 7 (or current OS)

i have a couple of smaller HDD laying around i could use. IS there a Step by step i could follow to ensure im doing it properly or is it just Plug in the other HDD, boot from Disc, and let it run its course, then plug my normal HDD back in after 8/8.1 is loaded
