I built my computer about two years ago, and I think around last year (so 1 year after I built it), the fan on my case started to make these weird grinding noises on startup. At first I didnt know what it was, and after restarting my computer, it would go away.
It continued and after awhile I dceided to check what it was and figured out it was the top fan on my case. Everytime I heard the sound, which is usually always on startup, I would smack the top of my computer and it would go away. If I smacked my computer right on startup, it would still make weird noises but if I waited a couple of minutes after and then smacked it, It would go away. I figured it was just my computer's fan "warming up"?
Now, it still happens but the grinding doesn't really go away. Its a lot quieter than when it first starts up and I smack it but the grinding is still there. Sounds like it has trouble spinning or something. I'm not sure.
Any suggestions?
