So I went out and bought a copy of windows home premium oem for my first computer build. We'll then in class I found out that my teacher was giving out free copies of windows as long as there used for educational purposes. So I decided to get windows 7 pro. So my question Is, is thee a way to copy everything on my main drive to another drive then reformat, upgrade and then replace all the data but still have the newer os without anytime upgrade?

Solution
if you do that you'll break the new install. find where your documents are and copy them.

You will have to re-install programs. nothing you can do about that.

make it a class project? you'll have to reinstall programs? but documents and pictures etc. you just move.
We'll I meant it's my personal computer, but I mean is there a way to copy all of my files off and the. Back on without interfering with the upgraded os?
