Using K-Boost for Borderlands 2....not working out so good

I am trying to get the most out of my GTX 770 while playing Borderlands 2 with Physx on HIgh. Frames drop down to 15fps sometimes. So after troubleshooting in every way I could read about I am left with one option and that is using the K-Boost in EVGA-X. It was not perfect and the OSD was showing some odd numbers like 4000000mb of VRAM usage and 0% GPU usage as well as locking the voltage at 0.900v as well as only going half the clock speeds. so about 550mhz on the core. What am I doing wrong?

Solution

Use msi afterburner.

Set physx to low. Download and use sweetfx with a good borderlands 2 settings file.

Actually enjoy playing the game without shit fps drops. ^^

Use the latest Nvidia driver (335.23) and turn the Physx down to low and enjoy the game. Borderlands 2 being cell based look doesn't benefit greatly from high Physx anyway IMHO.

As K-Boost is showing some strange readings I would be reluctant to use it anyway.

I was wondering about SweetFX and how it works. As far as I know it is an Nvidia based utility that can add more effects and AA to your game. But let me know how far off i am on that. As for MSI afterburner I was having some instability issues so I uninstalled it.

Simply download the newest version, then drop the files into the folder with the game .exe file.

Then look for a pre set configuration file you like and override the one that comes with it.

Can't run any game without it anymore.

Can't find a download for it. I tried a few sites like 3d guru but it just gives me some file converter plugin

How is it working? I get huge frame drops because of PhysX to the point where I ordered a dedicated PhysX card (still in the mail). If sweetfx only enables non-PhyX improvements, I'm not interested as much. Between Nvidia control panel and nvidiainspector, I am already able to enable a lot of settings.

I am still having issues with Physx. You can google" Borderlands 2 Low FPS physx" and get a ton of hits but nothing that can help most Nvida Kelper Users. I looked at pretty much all the relevant things related to this. SweetFX does as other things to the game though that make it more pleasing to look at. I am still tinkering with it and have not intsalled the auto configure software yet.

I think getting a dedicated PhysX card is the best solution to PhysX slow downs. After researching it, there seems to be no way around it. I ordered the 750 ti to pair with my 780 ti. It won't actually fit mounted in my case, so I also got a riser cable so I can just stuff it in my case. Won't matter much because I connect the display output to my 780 ti anyway. I'll let you know the results I get if you are interested. For the meantime, here is an article testing PhysX performance with a dedicated card to supplement high-end graphics solutions. The results are impressive.

Basically, a single 650 ti performs PhysX calculations better than two Titans!

Also, what level are your characters in Borderlands 2? I've put an embarrassing number of hours into that game, but suffice it to say that Maya, Axton, Zero, and Salvador are all OP8. Nonetheless, I still love the game and continue to play it. :D

I have not done the RAID DCL yet so no OP8 for me, I also have quite a bit of hours in, more than any of my games according to steam. I have a Level 59 commando and he has been at 59 for a long time also a level 51 siren and a level 30 something Zero and Just started a mech for the heck of it but I really don't like her skill tree most of it is for deathtrap. And it is an addictive game and best played on COOP with friends or someone who does not just want to duel you and take your stuff.
