HTPC CPU question..

I am building a HTPC for media. I am Thinking Either Ivy Bridge or HAswell from Intel. or Maybe a A-10 APU. So here is what I am thinking so far. There is the Pentium G3220 or i3 4130 from the HAswell side. And the Pentium G2120 or i3 3220 fro, Ivy Bridge. I am not to impressed with the A10-7850k prices right now but I would like one.

I like the Pentium G prices $59 to $79 and I just like how fast people are saying they are. I use a i5 3570k after using an Althon II quad core and it is orders or magnitude faster in single-threaded applications. I don't know much about the AMD A4 acrhitecture but I imagine it is faster than my Athlon II

As I said, for strictly media play back, you don't need all that much in the way of processing power. Heck I ran a quad-tuner TV Tuner card off of and AMD Athlon II x2-240. I recommended the APU because it does have better graphics than the Pentium G3220 and at a lower cost.

One thing about the Haswell Pentium G series is I can't find the type of HD graphics it is using. The i5 3570k uses HD 4000, the i3 4130 uses HD 4600...ect. I did find some specs on the iGPU on the pentium g3220 but those were just frequencies of the iGPU which does not really tell me much. So which is the P G3220?

The G3420 uses HD 4600 and for HTPC purposes, is more than enough. If you want to do any light gaming you will want something more.

Sorry this is incorrect. No Pentium uses HD 4600 graphics. I'm not doubting it's HTPC abilities though. I believe it could be capable of smooth playback. From what I've read it's "HD Graphics" should be a bit better than the old HD3000 graphics which should be plenty strong enough for HTPC purposes.
