Freezing and Blue Screen

Hello!
After recently buying a new CPU and getting a new OS I've been having freezing issues
with my graphics card (not sure if it's the source of the freezes) followed by a BSOD.
This has occured previously with my older CPU but very rarely, only when the computer
was really overloaded which is understandable for such a weak CPU. However, it seems to be
happening now every time I boot up a more CPU and GPU requiring game (Far Cry 3, Warface)
but doesn't seem to happen with League of Legends and works without any issues.

I've tried a number of things, installed a new OS, reinstalled my display drivers a number of times,
removed one RAM stick at a time (thinking it was a faulty memory stick). At first when my system
was fresh and after I've installed all the drivers from their original CD's I was getting an error
from the ATIKMPAG.sys in the bluescreen(http://zaslike.com/files/ln5fmyq4fcezhk8tcbq6.jpg),after
that I've removed all of my display drivers, downloaded the latest ones and installed only the display
drivers and HDMI audio drivers. Now I get a regular blue screen of death:

My crashes are as follows: after booting up the game it seems to run fine through the cutscenes and
starts doing 5 second freezes about 2-3 minutes into the game. It then keeps refreshing and the whole
game gets desynced. It keeps doing this until the eventual BSOD with no real error message or explanation
as to why it crashed. In the 5 second freezes I think the classical "Display driver has stopped working
and has recovered" error comes up, I've had that on my old setup. Before the reinstall of my graphic card
drivers I'd just get a series of black screens into a BSOD. I've tried giving my graphics card more power
through the MSI afterburner and decreasing it's core clock, I don't think that's the issue though. My motherboard
has the latest version of BIOS aswell.

My temperatures are fine, CPU is 40 deegres idle and graphics card is 33 deegres idle. Neither of them go over
60 degrees while under load. My detailed specs are as follows:

Motherboard: G41m-p26 (ms-7592)
CPU: Core2Quad q9650
GPU: Sapphire HD 7770 GHz Edition OC Vapor-x GDDR5
RAM: 2x4gb DDR3 1333mhz
HDD: 500gb
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Thank you for your time.

Edit: Forgot PSU
PSU:S-Tech 550W

P.S. I've calculated how many Watts my setup uses before getting a new PSU over an online calculator and the result was 384W. I have a 550w S-Tech PSU with a 12cm fan.

Yes, it does stand for startech. Also, it's not that old, it's only been fully working in my PC for 2 days now, before that it was used very rarely as a check if the PC's were functional in the PC shop.
