I would recommend the ASUS RT-N56U. Excellent router, top in its class range and well under $200.

You don't need AC unless you already have devices with AC adapters. Moreover, the next generation of AC is coming this fall or so (like the ASUS RT-AC87U) and by then some good AC adapters might come out.
