I am new to overclocking, I am not so sure how it works, but I've heard that it does really help for performance. So I am thinking about overclocking my CPU and GPU. So will I be able to overclock my Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU 2.30GHz and my Nvidia Geforce GTX 670M 3GB GPU? And how do I do it? Will it really improve my gaming performance? Also my PC is having overheating issues, while playing a game, the CPU temp goes up to 88C, and sometimes 96C. Yeah, it's intense. Also having FPS issues with this gaming pc.. My FPS drops, I think because of this overheating issue, so that's why I am thinking to overclock my CPU and GPU for better FPS performance. I do not really have so much to say about overheating, because I don't really know how it works. I just wanna do anything for my pc performance. Also this Asus G75VW pc is about 2,5 years old. Also, can you give me a link about how to overclock, which works for my pc?

Help would be appreciated.

Hi temps/overheating could cause your laptop to 'throttle' to protect itself, causing FPS issues.
Sometimes, over the years, the thermal paste between heatsinks and the cpu as well as graphics can dry out,
causing issues, or even the age of the laptop, depending on how hard it's been used.
Dpeneding on your mechanical comfort level, a laptop can be partially disassembled & the paste re applied.

Well, I've seen some people on the forums which successfully overclocked their Laptop Asus G75VW same as mine. And they noticed a big difference on the FPS.

But you are already overheating, this will just add to that problem & even cause more issues.
Overclocking adds a lot of heat, that's why desktops almost always recommend aftermarket coolers for OC'ing.
If you can't bring those temps down, don't OC!.
