buying new HDD do I need a new OS and MOBO?

Okay so the title basically says it. I dropped my laptop and busted the HDD on it so now I'm going to be buying a new HDD. Wasn't sure with windows being how it is whether or not i would need to buy a new MOBO as well or if I would just need the HDD and OS.

Unless you actually broke your mobo, any 2.5" HDD will work without you having to buy a new mobo. You will however have to buy a new copy of Windows or whatever OS you want to use.
