New CPU and Motherboard causing "windows loading" then BSOD

I bought my friend a new motherboard and CPU for his birthday. The CPU is an AMD FX 8350 Black Edition and the motherboard is a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3. This is the same setup I have in my PC. I gave him my old 750W power supply as well. The problem is, whenever the computer starts up it goes through all the normal splash screens. It gets to the windows 7 load screen with the windows icon and "loading windows" then after a few seconds flashes an really fast BSOD and restarts. It doesn't stay up long enough to read anything on it. I've checked all the cabling and it matches my setup so I'm not sure what's going on. If we moved everything back to the old motherboard and CPU it works fine. If we move everything including the CPU to the old motherboard (the old motherboard supports AM3+) then it will not start.

Solution
Was the old motherboard's SATA controller configured in IDE or AHCI mode? Have you tried setting the SATA controller on the new motherboard to IDE mode? The system most likely crashes with error 0x0000007b.

That solved it! Thanks, Ghislain!
