Hello guys
In the next weeks i will build a second pc for my room.The other pc is in the upper floor and so does the router .I want to connect my second pc to the internet too ,can i use a second router for my second pc?

Solution

Either one will work. The 10/100/1000 will work 'faster' for transferring files inside your LAN.

they are both wired...
what switch are you talking about? the usb sticks that add wifi signal to a pc?

No. A switch, as opposed to a router.

This is a switch: http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ProSAFE-5-Port-Ethernet-Desktop/dp/B00002EQCW

You can make a router do that, by turning off most of the router functions. Or, you can just buy that which does it natively.

ISP -> Modem -> router -> switch -> devices.
(modem and router may be in the same physical box)

Again...are we talking wired or wireless?

Why? I can go up to 600 kbs so if the speed is the problem i don't think I can go that high
I wanna do:modem then connect it wireless to the switch and then with cable to the second pc this will work right?
