I have a Seagate Backup Plus 3TB 3.5" . Its HDD has failed but the box work ok.
I tried use the box with other 3.5" HDD and it work fine.
Now I wonder will it work with a 2.5" HDD. The interface fits and I just want it to work, don't care if the HDD fit in the box case.

Yes, all it is is a SATA port to USB interface, with external power. It will work for any SATA device but as a general rule, you only need external power for 3.5" & Optical Drives. Given that your chip has external power already, you may not be able to use it without it but what I mean is that you could easily pick up a 2.5" caddy that would not require external power - thus affording you more portability. They cost about a tenner, if that appeals to you...
