I've been debating first whether the fx-6300 would be enough to play games likes Crysis 3, Farcry and BF4 on Ultra setting with a r9 280x getting 40+ fps. Now I heard that this Cpu would be bottle necking this card. So would it be better to upgrade that cpu to the FX-8350 or switch out for an Intel board with a i5-4670k. Would it be worth upgrading the AMD cpu and save a couple bucks or settle the damage by going with the Intel CPU. I want this PC to be primarily towards performance. willing to sacrifice a few dollars if it means I get better fps, IF IT IS SIGNIFICANT!

i think you accidentally clicked "best answer", you can un-select it.

fx6300 would bottleneck in demanding situations, while 4670k would help fps. but if you have the new parts already, you can just find out for yourself.
fx6300...
if you have an fx6300 cpu, o.c.'ing the fx6300 (provided that you have appropriate hardware) is better option.

however, if you want performance (where budget is higher), current ivb-e platform or upcoming haswell-e platform would be better (if it performs up to snuff).

So you're saying if I get the fx8350 it wont bottle neck my graphics card. That's the main reason why I switched from the fx6300 to the i5-4670k

fx6300 is good for budget gaming pcs, since current core i3 cpus are very overpriced for their capabilities and performance. if you go high end, core i5/i7 usually deliver better performance. whether people can perceive the improvement or lack there of, depends on the individual.
