I'm not sure what is wrong with my SanDisk 32GB USB, i use it a lot for my work and i used it in one of my university computers last and i safely removed it, i later tried putting it in different computers but it would only light up on the stick but nothing would pop up. I really need everything that is on the USB i have an assignment due in a few hours and i can't access it, PLEASE HELP!

First off I do hope things get resolved for you. If you are under time crunch might be hard.

I will try to help but information will be based on Windows (not as proficient with Apple).

1) If backup was stored online, that may be your quickest solution but from post I doubt that.
2) Even though windows does not pop anything up, check to see if it is recognized under my computer
3) If it is recognized you may be able to pull the files off and then use another
4) If computer does not recognize at all then you may be out of luck sorry to say
5) If recognized but cannot see any files you may be able to use a recovery program like Recuva or Pandora Recovery (I have used both). Just remember that when you choose to recover, recover to different source not the drive the information is on as it may overwrite information not yet recovered.

All media is subject to fail due to heat, moisture, static electricity, scratches and so on. If it is anything remotely important, always save to minimum (IMHO) 3 devices (I.E. Flash Drive, Online Storage, Email to yourself (if not huge).

I hope this helps but from what you have said, be prepaired for worse.

PS. I just thought about this. Was the format and storage from original place compatible with the other places you connected it to.

I also read somewhere that Lion may not see NTFS correctly so the information could still be there just wrong system looking for it

Most USB devices come formatted as exFAT, FAT32 or FAT16 - any one of these will work on most modern operating systems, including OSX. It's unlikely to be your problem.

Sandisks are one of the most common USB drives we see for failed controller chip. This situation is solved by removing the NANDs and using a NAND reader to compile the data. Unfortunately this is the only way to recover the data in this instance. You can read more about it here http://www.sertdatarecovery.com/usb-flash-drive-data-re...
