Either are fine if you're just running a webserver. AMD is the underdog, but if you're not doing any high performance computing (and you're not if you're running php, jsp, asp, etc.) then you can save some money and go AMD.

Otherwise go Intel--they are the server CPU kings at the moment.

Purpose is to host website php, asp.net and jsp

so server should be able to run linux server, windows server, tomcat etc
