Ok let get all started making media networking 2 story house most room have rj45 port connecting to central entertainment room. Right now all rj45 is connect to tv each room but some room need more port so I got 2 spare wireless modem/router which is perfect if I can use the extra wireless signal coverage and an Older printer that doesn't support n signal.
Will it be possible to make this work
I can draw out a plan of what goes where. Also should it be 1 network or better to have more network or would that slow down the connection? Trying to make nas mini server hp 54L modd to hold 6 hd that going hold movies and mp3 music , an older laptop as server for all roms emulator and another laptop server for karaoke and video music Or I can cramp it to hp nas server and 1 laptop(need power to run some rom emulation) plus I can turn on and off the server when not needed which order should I put it? How would you do it.
Connect telstra speed dl-2.5mbps ul-0.8mbps
All 3 are wireless modem/router
Techocolor 578v3 telstra

Apple iPad
Andriod pad
6 mobile( lol only 4 ppl at home)
I ceiling projector entertain room

All tv us cable @1gig rj45 except outside project have to use wireless unless if I can do it my laying out 1 cable and getting friend (electro an to connect for me) insurance purpose.
All phone and pad and pod wireless
Printer wireless

PS3 bot entertainment ps4 in my room
Also got 2 sets of mywirelesstv TV 1080p wireless device( got it for .....gaming) but decide to wire it but now use it to laptop to tv
All gaming console wired.

What the best way to setup either 2 or muliple network
I will draw out my plan and upload it as need a working solution

Any ideas is welcome mod it tweak it
Please provide IP address and if possible what to turn off setting on modem
Doing this to get rid of cable hanging everywhere tv all hang on wall on some TV where no closeby rj45 port will use wireless

Most half decent routers are good for 32+ IP addresses.

Here's what I suggest you do, create a single network:-
I'm assuming your internet router address is 192.168.0.1 and you're using the IP range 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.255, yours might differ slightly so change the suggestion to suit.
1). On the internet router change the ip address lease range (dhcp server) so there is a dead zone e.g. if it starts at 192.168.0.2 and runs to 192.168.0.255, then change the starting address to 192.168.0.10 or higher.
2). On your slave routers (the ones not connected to the internet) disable their dhcp server, and the dns server if you want, and change the IP address to one from your dead zone range (192.168.0.2-192.168.0.9). This means you can use them as access points and switches, it also removes any IP conflicts while still allowing you to log into them to do maintenance while the network is running.
3). Where all your network points come together you place your 48-port switch.
4). You can place your converted routers where is best suited for yourself as access points. You'll still need to pair your devices with each router to use it's Wi-Fi.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the reply
I have that same setup before without the switch and point 2 as I disable 1st 2nd & 3rd dhcp. Use MAC address to set as 192.168.1.x
X - family (personal handset)1-50
X-television 100-139
X- media 145-200
X- guess WLAN 60-99 down stairs
X-guess up stairs 200-233
X- router/switch 234-253aim router is 254
also set wireless same name diff ap and channel I. I seem to get all device on internet but as file sharing I can only see afew. So now I going to redo everything when I use the switchy router went into wan mode and I got no idea what that does and if it's better?
- modem 2-devices
B4 modem1 -device
-modem 3-devices
Modem1-192.168.1.254
M2-192.168.1.254
M3-192.168.1.244
Now the switch 250
My device didn't see the switch bit when I set the switch to the pacific address restart it put back into location it would change back to it weird IP address and conflict with all ip preset address will go through every device for sharing to solve some non sharing. The guess dhcp is what I just added on will that work? This way I can track and easily configure devices from my room. Will turn off all net also from my main device I set up everything is alienware LAN 192.168.1.3 WLAN 192.168.1.2 LAN window ip conflict
All device
192.168.1.x
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.254
DNS
192.168.1.254
Never use 2dns don't know what that is and how to get it( it that that address from modem to service prover)

Hi Paul
Sorry about this also
I did try dhcp on but haven't set any m1-switch-device and it seem to connect bit with random ip would it still work if I just plug in 2/3rd modem as ap? Dhcp off or

-modem2-device
Net-Modem1-switch-device
-modem3-device

Or
-modem2-device
Net-Modem1-switch-device
-modem3-device

So 1st setup 2/3 modem and switch connect to modem 1
2nd setup 2/3modem connect to switch and switch connect to modem

Both way modem 1 is dhcp but I think this switch has dhcp as well

You need :
One Router
One network range
Switches in rooms that need more than one wired connection to the 3com 24 port Gb switch

Keep it simple, complexity comes from a need and I'm not seeing it in your demand. Your internet speeds are very low and is the bottleneck.
