The CPU isn't necessary if you're just going to be gaming, and also you'd only need 8GB RAM. However, if you're going to be doing video editing also, then that justifies those two purchases. Are you overclocking? What else will you be doing with this PC other than gaming?

Like he said, if you're not going to be doing any rendering, or anything like that, I'd bump down to a i5-4670k, or even a i5-3570k. Then bump your ram down to 8GB. And grab yourself a GTX 780. You'd have one of the best gaming pcs on the market.

This could be good for you. As A40 said, if you can afford get a GTX 780 instead!

thanks for the advice, Sorry I should have specified in the question a little more. I plan on useing the PC for anything and everything (photoshop, video editing, etc...) but gameing at the core and i want it to be really good all the way around without breaking the bank to bad ($1000-1300) I figured with the i7 and the mid range card (plus the 280x i chose is OC out of the box) it could handle just about anything... maybe? with the i5 and the 780 would i get better performance?
