Hey i have a "router" and i have 2 computers, one is a notebook and one is a desktop PC.
my PC is connected to the "router" with a cable the RJ-45 and my notebook is working with WI-FI
with the distance of 3-4 meters with 1 cement wall separating between.
But the problem is not why i have no internet when i use the notebook but the problem is why when the PC turns on Skype or surfs on the browsers i have absolutely no internet.
the NB and the PC should share the bandwidth or the "router".
any way to change it?
P.S. when i was in the same room with that "router" and the PC was active on the internet i had no internet even then so its not the distance or the walls problem its only a division problem.

To take a shot in the dark:

Your "router" sounds more like it is working as a wireless access point and switch. It may be a router with the routing features turned off, or it may not be more than an access point/switch.

What I think is happening is that you have a single IP address assigned to you from your modem. Without a router to "split" the internet conection only one device is able to use that single IP address at a time so only one device is able to be online at a time.

If the device has multiple wired ports - try connecting both the laptop and PC with wires and see if they can both work at the same time.

You may also have both the PC and laptop set to use a single, user-defined, IP address (rather than obtain using DHCP) so with both trying to connect to the same network at once - things break.

Ok so your answer sounds really good and i am just learning the network chapter in the Cisco network academy so i am not really sure what to do?
to change the IP of the note book or the computer?
and i said "router" because nowadays people call the devise that is an access point,switch and a router simply a router but its just not it and i don't know the mane of that devise as it suppose to be because i live in Israel and i never heard the name of it.
i will try to connect them but i need to find the cable.
and yes it has multiple ports-4 to be exact.
and the "router" does work as a DHCP i think because i didnt set them an IP address it made 1 automatically
i will try to set an IP myself and find a cable.
