Hi all,

After running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool I have noticed that none of my DirectX Features are available.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers for my card and reinstalled DirectX 9.

Windows XP Home Edition SP3
AMD Radeon HD 5750 1GB

I think this problem is causing my computer to become a little sluggish also.

I have already searched the internet and even these forums for an answer but couldn't find one.

Thanks.

After uninstalling and reinstalling my GPU Drivers and DirectX, my DirectX log now looks like this.

This problem is causing my screen to scroll in waves, making the computer slow.

Check under the 'DirectX Files' tab, see what it says there.

DirectX Files tab shows 'No problems found.'

Also, just noticed, under the 'Music' tab and under the 'DirectX Features' it states 'Default Port Acceleration: Not Available', but also states 'No problems found.'

OK, try an older driver for the card-use Driver Fusion or a similar driver cleaner to totally remove any older graphics drivers before installing the 'new' ones.
Make certain you're downloading one for your operating system! ;)

OK, I'll download an older driver. I already use Driver Sweeper (which is now called Display Driver Uninstaller), so I'll try this and report back. :)

I uninstalled my Catalyst Drivers also using Display Driver Cleaner, even deleting any left over ATI folders et cetera and installed the Catalyst 12.6 drivers. However, the probelm still persists although I did noticed it had gone once the Catalyst Drivers were uninstalled i.e. Page scrolling became smoother instead of 'in waves'.

I have also notice under Device Manager that the driver/s for the 'System Interrupt Controller' is/are not installed, I have no idea if this could be the cause.

The DirectX report now looks like the first screen shot above.

This is baffling.

Pop over to the Microsoft site and update DirectX...Again.
If that doesn't work, try the card in another system, or, alternatively, another card in your system.

I have installed DirectX several times at various intervals i.e. after uninstalling drivers, after installing them et cetera. :)

When the ATI Drivers were uninstalled the PC worked a little smoother, I just now even went as far as manually deletling ATI drivers that the driver uninstaller missed from the system32\drivers folder before installing the latest Catalyst ones.

I'm afraid I do not have another card to test, my last one I gave away and the only other system I have in the house doesn't work anymore (circa 2000!, an old TINY system)

I may try a system restore other than that the only other option is to reinstall XP again, something I only did just before Christmas. The internet isn't giving me too many answers ATM, but I'll keep scanning and returning back here for any other suggestions. :)

Like you I'm a little confused as to the actual cause because you've done all the right things to resolve a software problem, short of a full reinstall of Windows.
The only other thing I can think of right now is some sort of malware/virus infection that has corrupted your OS and is preventing the drivers or DX updates from installing properly.

It could be your chip set driver (motherboard). for example VIA.
Pre windows vista this used to be an issue with how the old hardware model worked with directx and gfx cards. Just update them.

I finally found an old Sytem Restore point (8th March) and restored to that point, and now everything is as it should be. Had to manually uninstall then reinstall my AV afterwards, but that worked out fine. Many thanks for your replies Coozie7 really grateful for your time.

Also, thankyou for your suggestion Lee-m, I already restored before I had a chance to see your post.

I agree that this was most prob a chipset driver issue as I had various pop ups relating to the device manager. Still perplexed as to what caused this issue though, it's taken me 2 days to try to ascertain what caused this in the first place as I hadn't installed anything but a game; Simcity 4.

Anyways, thanks again. :)
