Upgrade from AMD A8 5600K for Gaming

I have a AMD A8 5600K with a AMD 270X.

I am considering buying a Intel i5 3750. I mainly play BF4 and Titanfall etc...

Will I see a gain in FPS by having an i5 over the A8?

  1. I would say yes. FM2 chips are not very good gamers. I would suggest going with Haswell though. What is your budget for this upgrade?
  2. I have around £200 to play with and can get a 3750 quite cheap. What chipset would you recommend?

Would it be a noticeable difference or does my GPU do all the work?

    Thanks for the help.
  3. There is no such thing as a 3750, btw. There is a 3570 though. The lack of L3 cache hurts gaming performance. Your CPU isn't even as good as an i3. How cheap is the 3570?
  4. That is the one. I can get one for £80, 2nd hand...
  5. I don't see any point of the upgrade unless you are having performance problems. If not then the only difference you will notice is while watching the fps counter.

Worth it. I would just go with a B75 or H77 board. No need for more.
  7. i3-4330 is a good choice with an h87 MB. but this might be to rich for your budget.

i say this because i was surprised how well a i3-4330 and a h87 with an gtx 680 worked.

A 5600k will bottleneck a 270x. Even an i3 4130 is better. Hell, even a Phenom II X4, at the same clock speed, is better.
  9. I am not seeing any issues, except in BF4 when things blow up en masse.

However I am a grass is always greener type of person hence the need for an upgrade. However if the money would be better spent elsewhere I am happy to hear it.

Get that 3570 and this board. That would put you about 135 of your 200 budget. You could then add an SSD, and a cooler for a bit more.

  11. Thanks everyone, what a helpful forum.
  12. i5-3570 for 80 quids? Are you sure about that?
The cheapest i5-3570 is for 153 quids. It is still affordable as long as you drop the cooler and the SSD.
Edit: Ah sorry I didn't notice the OP will get it for 80 quids.
  13. Second hand..

  16. FX Chips are very good for battlefield. Get an FX 8320 and OC it. You'll be golden.
