Just built a new computer using the Asus A88X-pro. This is the first time I've ever done this and I am a complete novice. The chasis did not come with a speaker, so I can't hear beeps. Probably need to get that. The monitor is not showing anything, using a VGA port. Would VDI work? The keyboard does not show any response, using a usb port. should I use the direct port on the panel instead of the usb? Lastly, is the 2 pin direct connector cable needed for the initial boot? My chasis didn't come with that either. Help!

3/18/14-installation error caused the problem described above. As novice I improperly installed the AMD chip. As many of you know there is a small lever that locks the chip in place BEFORE you attach the heat sink. By failing to lock in the lever the chip was unable to communicate properly. I only mention this because it may help someone in the future. This was discovered by the awesome techs at MicroCenter in Houston, Texas.

I think it is APU, I don't have a separate graphics card. Other than the fans turning and one green LED lighting up, nothing else is going on as far as I can tell because of the lack of a monitor.

it is the three pin header labeled CLRTC, just above the green LED. Move the jumper to cover the exposed pin. ie move header across one pin. Then return to original placement. Do this with no power to mobo.
