Plugged PC into TV during playing a fullscreen game, TV won't work with PC now. Goes blank after BIOS.

I have used my PC with the TV for a long time. I've never had any problems with it. However last night I was playing Bully: Scholarship Edition though Steam (bought it on the sale). As it was loading up in fullscreen I unplugged the HDMI cable from my monitor and plugged it into the TV.

At this stage I had no picture coming through to the TV. I plugged it back into the monitor and there was no picture there either. Only when I rebooted would I receive a picture on the monitor (but still not the TV).

I have reinstalled the graphics drivers and the TV still won't work.

The strange thing is that I can see the BIOS on the TV but as soon as windows loads it goes blank. I can hear the login noise.

This means it's obviously a driver issue, right? I thought reinstalling the drivers would fix it but evidently not.

Please help!

@deadmaufive I have no way of changing the resolution when it is plugged into the TV as I can't get a picture. I've always used the same resolution (1080p) on both my monitor and TV.

Thanks.

Or, if you use the same cable on both the monitor and TV, then it could also be the cable going bad. that might be best to check first, see if another cable will fix the issue, if not, check your graphics card. Use another card that you have lying around, or a friends card, and see if that works.

I don't think it's the GPU. The TV only stopped working after plugging it in during playing a fullscreen game, which leads me to believe the driver has got confused.

It can't be the cable either because the TV works on BIOS, but as soon as the windows loading screen starts, the screen goes blank.

Thanks!

That is true, so maybe reinstalling drivers again might help. Other than that, unfortunately, I'm out of ideas on the cause. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck and hopefully someone can answer your question better than I.

Thanks for the help anyway, I appreciate it! I'm still having no luck unfortunately. I'm completely at a loss as to why the TV won't work. It works like normal on the monitor just not the TV. :(

I have managed to plug my TV and monitor into the PC at the same time and extended the displays. The TV still doesn't show any picture but the PC recognizes it and even lets the mouse drift into the extended screen. I'm completely baffled by this. Surely there's a simple fix since this only occurred after plugging it in during a game? The driver has obviously assigned a setting somewhere and has confused itself. I just can't figure out how to revert it.

Any help or am I going to have to reinstall windows just to be able to watch freaking walking dead on my TV?
