I have an HP Pavilion g series , Windows 7, A6 Vision AMD laptop. Randomly my usb ports stopped working all three of them. Ive narrowed it down to hardware vs software and its hardware problem. My worse fear its something fried in the mother board and I cant fix it without paying more then this laptop is worth. I've tried many things but I just ant figure it out. I looked up many threads also talking about what to do but it seems I still have a problem.

Solution
What i mean is, the motherboard do not give the power needed to use the USB port, you have the power and you have the data from the USB port. If you connect a cooling pad who just needs the power from the USB port, and the fan on the pad doesn't work, that means the USB port is not powered from the motherboard. So anything you connect to the USB port will not work. Something on the motherboard is defective, you have to go to a repair store to get your laptop repaired.
