My computer is currently connected to a multi outlet. Pretty much there are 2 original outlets that are in the wall and I put a multi outlet where it occupies the wall one and gives u 6 other outlets to use. I have my lamp, monitor, computer, second monitor, and phone charger connected to it. It's fairly old. Should I get a surge protector or some kind of other power strip for my computer? I am making a new computer also if that matters. Thanks

Hello Anthonyx978,

I highly recommend a surge supressor at minimum to protect your electronics of all types. Look for one which has a lifetime warranty and a "connected equipment warranty" as a better guarantee of reliability.

As an improved measure, I would also recommend you consider purchasing a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) or Battery Backup Unit. They can be purchased starting under $100 and not only protect against surges, but also brownouts and blackouts, and they also condition the power coming into computer which can increase lifespan of electronics. Hope this information is helpful.
