Can you connect sata 3gb/s to sata 6gb/s

I am currently in the process of building a gaming PC and I just noticed that my optical drive is sata 3gb/s while it says that my motherboard only has sata 6/gbs. Can i still connect them or what else can i do.

sata 6/gbs is backwards compatible with sata 3/gbs

Hello Rulee09,

You "should" have no issues connecting your SATA 3Gb/s optical drive to a SATA 6Gb/s port, they are backward compatible.
