I am trying to play Final Fantasy XIV on my MacBook Pro Retina but unfortunately I am getting huge FPS problems on minimal settings. I have gone on a few benchmark sites and ran a few benchmark tests and all have said I should be able to run the game. In addition, I have found videos and other people saying they have been able to run FF XIV on their MacBook Pro Retina. Here is some relevant information about my rig:

System Specs
GPU: GeForce GT 650M
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820QM CPU @ 2.70GHz
Memory: 16.00GB RAM
Resolution: 1900 x 1200, 60Hz
Nvidia Driver: Version 335.23 (Updated)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

I have ran the Unigine Benchmark at EXTREME HD settings (the photo didn't save), and the results were:
FPS: 3.2
Max FPS: 5.0
Min FPS: 2.0
Time: ~190 Seconds

In game, I have tried all different kinds of settings in FFXIV, and even at minimal settings at 1280 x 800 Resolution, I get <20 FPS (which is definitely not what these specs should be showing). At optimal settings (according to Nvidia GeForce Experience), I get 15 FPS.

I am pretty sure something is up with the hardware of my computer (temperature of the GPU stays around 70c according to the Unigine Benchmark) and I have just double checked the drivers for my GPU.

Any help would be awesome!

Have you made adjustments in the Energy Saver section of your System Preferences? There are two options for graphics performance: 1) Better battery life and 2) Higher performance.

Sorry I'm not familiar with game software. Is lowering the screen resolution an option either making the adjustment in System Preferences or perhaps the game settings. A lower screen resolution will normally tax the GPU less than if it were set to a higher resolution.

UPDATE
Wait, you're trying to run a game over a virtual machine? Parallels or boot camp? If Parallels the virtualization alone can eat up a lot of system resources. Again, I'm not familiar with games but I think that running a game over Parallels would not perform very well.
