tdr failure why??? my laptop is brand new

my laptop is giving me video tdr failure it does it when i turn graphics up or jus playing the game on low graphics for a long time what do i do???? i have a nvidia geforce plus 1tb and windows 8.1 i dont understand please help

Check temperature of your GPU after running a game for a while
Try GPU-Z

Also consider running Memtest 86 if your GPU shares RAM (Almost certainly!)
Install latest Nvidia driver.
