Hi Interwebs

Just wondering if anyone knows any good over-ear Headphones for under AU$100 (~US$90/ ~£55) for mostly listening to music and a little bit of gaming (good bass required)
Good sound quality, doesn't have to be great but of reasonable quality.
Would Like something that would also look good in public.

Something along the lines of the Audio-Technicia ATH-ADG1 visible speaker style but cheaper, without the mic and extra headband thingy.

Thanks

The Sennheiser 497s were one of the two great under-$100 cans, the other being the Grado sr-60s. You can try to find one used.
I found a pair of these for $85 once: http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/headphones/567089b73c33056f/ .
You have to put up with them being purple, but they are magnificent studio monitors. Don't emphasize the bass the way most people seem to prefer; they stay close to the original material.

See if you can find a pair of Sennheisers to try.

Sony MDR 7506, all day long. They've been the professional choice in monitoring headphones for the past 20+ years.

They reproduce sound very well, music sounds absolutely incredible (not my opinion, it's a fact!), and I use mine at my PC for gaming, movie watching, music listening and sound editing etc.

Whilst being a stellar set of studio headphones, they're foldable too, so great if you're on the go, they're easy to dump in a bag. Also happen to be very robust, build quality is very good.

Negatives are:

- Coiled cable can be a pain on the go, but is generally fine at a desk.
- Bass is clear, and not over the top, which is nice for music and movies, but gaming can sometimes be slightly lacking. Having said that, I enjoy playing BF4 etc with them tremendously.
- Earpads could be better (in quality and comfort), however are replaceable, just like every component on this thing.

These things have had me actually looking behind me because the sound is so real I think it's coming from the room I'm in. That's surround sound headset territory, at less than half the price.

They're $85 on Amazon.com. You won't regret buying them, and you won't be able to go back to a cheap pair of headphones ever again.
