I was wondering if I damaged my CPU (AMD FX 6300) long term?

I found out I didn't screw it in properly when the computer would Post and then immediately shut down.

After that, I opened the case and re screw everything and everything seems to be working fine.

Any long term damage to the CPU you guys think?

So it's a brand new build and you discovered the mistake before even reaching to the OS?

If so, then you are fine. There hasn't been much heat going on right after a few seconds of boot up, no damage should have been done.
I would just take the cooler off and redo the thermal paste so it's not half pasted and half not. Make sure to clean both surfaces with 90%+ rubbing alcohol and lint-free cloth afterward. Then just make sure all screws in place this time.
Did you found out right after you mis-install it? Or has it been mis-installed for a while?

If you just mis-installed and didn't boot up before you fix it, then you are fine.
If you have not fixed it for a while, then maybe, but not likely as the CPU would still throttle when it heats up.
In addition, it depends on how bad you mis-installed it, if you were just missing a screw then it's fine, if the CPU cooler was like noticeable off the CPU block then it might have overheat too quickly for the CPU to throttle.

So what's the situation.

I later found out the heatsink only have two screws on one end and no screws on the opposite. It probably wasn't making contact with the CPU at all.

I mean it wouldn't boot to the O.S at all. It shut down before I even got a chance to log in to the operating system.
