Hello! First time questioner here so thanks for the help in advance! :)
The DVD drive on my Alienware M17X-R4 (which I definitely regret buying but what are you going to do) recently started acting up. Every time I put a DVD into it with a movie on it (store bought, not burned myself) it ejects the movie after about 10 seconds. If I put CDs in, it reads them almost immediately, and if I put in a DVD with a game on it, it works just fine. I'm not quite sure what to do so any recommendations are appreciated.
Thanks!

Hmmm it looks like somehow I double posted... Is there any way I can delete the extra?

Have you tried other movies? Or is it just that one? Either way, I don't have a DVD-drive myself so I don't have as much experience with them, but I thought they shouldn't ever reject discs? They should just not work, but still be in the drive, when they don't work that is.

Yes I've tried many DVD with movies on them. I'm not quite sure what's going on.

Update: It also reads my windows installation dvd and my resource dvds just fine.

Quick update: My drive was able to detect an older dvd of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. I'm not sure exactly what this means that it was able to accept an older one but not any newer ones.

Are there any drivers for the drive? You could try to re-install those.

Is there a firmware update available for the drive? If so, have you tried updating the FW?
