Hello, i am unable to post, using m5a99fx pro r2.0 motherboard, i m getting beeps and my dram led is red, so im assuming its a ram issue,i am using, Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866, i contacted crucial and they said it is compatible but i need to update bios? my bios edition on my motherboard is 2005, can someone confirm this for me? its a new build so i have no os system installed, so i guess i am supposed to update this bios via the flash drive, i picked up a flash today, but im not quite confident about going through this exact process without advice or the exact steps to make sure i got the file on flash drive correct etc,

Solution
You have got your instructor(Motherboard Manual) with you, you should have read that and possibly you could have solved your problem. Anyway, before updating BIOS, make sure you have inserted your RAM sticks firmly(not loose) and correctly i.e. either you have installed both Memory Sticks in black slots or both in the blue slot of your motherboard. Reinstall your Memory Sticks again after taking them out. If that doesn't solve your problem, then check the MeMOK button on your motherboard:

Press the MeMOK! button, until the MeMOK!_LED memory compatibility does tuning for successful boot.
Let us know how it all goes :)

thanks for the reply, yes their is something in the manual that i read, i havent tried to update the bios because i read posts that people can 'brick' their motherboards, i guess my question is before doing this, should i take my ram out or leave it in? also what im unsure of, getting the file on the flash drive correctly? all i did was insert the flash drive in to this computer, download the file from the site it went to winzip, renamed the .cap file from winzip and dragged it over to the f drive , i do not know if their is a certain way i am supposed to do that, and also i have tried the mem ok button a few times, i think after talking to crucial that is what i have to do is update the bios, then try the memok button,i know where im supposed to plug the flash drive in before i try this,if it feels like im missing something please let me know

if you have properly inserted you Ram sticks in memory slots properly and firmly then let it be there. Coming to BIOS update, the latest version out there on Asus website is 2201. After you have downloaded the compressed file from website, extract it using WinRar. Now open the extracted folder and you will see M5A99FX-PRO-R20-ASUS-2201.CAP file inside. Rename that file to M5A99FX.CAP. Get a flash storage and format it with FAT32 under File System. Then shut down your pc(Don't switch off from wall socket or psu). Insert the flash drive in Red indicated USB port of your motherboard. Press the BIOS FL_BK button as stated in pic below for 3-5 seconds and you can see flashing light.

When the light goes out completely, your bios is updated and take out flash drive and then turn your pc on.
