Hello everybody,

Here's my rig:

  • CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz.
    GPU: GeForce GTX 550 Ti.
    MEMORY: 8.00 GB RAM.
    HARD DISK: 1.5TB.
    PSU: SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY (ATX-600W P4) [+5V@45.0A, +12V@20.0A, -12V@0.8A, +3.3V@35.0A, +5VSB@3.0A].

My budget: $300 USD

I want to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 760 but I don't know If I should upgrade another component from the PC as well. As I could read on the internet I could see that almost everything is OK, but the PSU, on the Nvidia webpage the minimum recommended system power for this GPU is 500W but it differs from the manufacturer (EVGA, ASUS, PNY). What have been really puzzling me is that I read that for this GPU in the +12V wire it must be @40.0A and mine is @20.0A, I don't know how bad that is but that's why I am here asking for help.

Would you please help me in identify if I need to upgrade another component or it's OK just buying the GPU? Also I'd like to mention that the games I'd like to be running with that GPU are Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghost and that kind of games generally.

Want to thank you in advance.

Solution
Change the PSU. Instead of the 760, you can get the 270 or the 270X which offer very similar performance to the gtx 760 while keeping you under the $300 mark, even if you buy a PSU.

Doesn't it matter that my motherboard and CPU are Intel? I mean, as I could see that GPU you recommended me is Radeon and I don't know if it's going to help me, talking about compatibility.

Would you post the links to the articles on www.Newegg.com? Or the page you saw the budget will fit with my $300, please?

On Model it says: ATX-600W P4
DC OUTPUT(MAX): 600W
AC INPUT: 110V-60Hz 6A

Added to the information I gave.

Yeah get a new one before putting in a 760. With so little information on the PSU, usually means its junk.
