Hi !

I have a question about powering my GTX 770 card which has:

1. 6 pin connector
2. 8 pin connector.

I checked my 650 watt PSU, its some unknown brand and lists 19 amp on both 12 volt rails.

My question is :

Will i be able to run this thing on this PSU - EVGA recommends 42A in total on 12 v rails .

I also figured out that my PSU has only 1 PCI-e 6 pin connector whereas got numerous molex pin connectors.

How can i connect the 8 pin connector when there's only one 6 pin connector even i use the adapter.

The packaging has 2 adapters for 6 and 8 pin connector.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me with nearly same hardware setup .

Thanks!

How many amps your PSU has on combined 12v rail? total 19amps or 12v1 19 and 12v2 19?

Thanks for quick update.

Each rail has 19 V , so i guess that would make 38v in total

it is a bit close call . . . gtx770 requires 230watts so it means 20amps . so you have to plug some molex also for connections to GPU which provides some more amps for your GPU

I have both of those adapter connectors in the EVGA GTX 770 box.

The PSU has one 6 pin connector which can be connected to the card.

But i dont know what to do with the 8 pin connector.

I have the 8 pin adapter but it has split into two 6 pin connector.

So this is where i am stuck.

I will break this down so it is not confusing.

PSU has - only one 6 pin connector and plenty of molex connectors.

EVGA GTX 770 - requires input of one 6 pin connector and one 8 pin connector.

Included in EVGA box(connector adapter) -

1. 6 pin connector adapter split into two molex connectors.

2. 8 pin connector adapter split into two 6 pin connectors.

Hope this now helps to understand the problem.

I know EVGA's package so use your one PSU's PCI-E 6pin connector and buy this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Molex-IDE-to-PCI-E-8-pin-VGA-Ca...
I know that one of these adapters converts two 6pin PCI-E to one 8pin PCI-E cable!

I have read a lot about not using the adapter in the ebay link you have provided coz it is not the right thing to do but although works for many people.

Ok i got the answer, the guys at EVGA say it won't work.

They insist that as written on the manual(wall) the card requires 42 amp on a single +12V rail.

So i have got no option than to buy a $100+ high grade power supply probably a Corsair or NZXT gold series.

Thanks for all your support !
