Hi guys, I built my PC in December on my own for gaming. Its been doing this for a while but it stopped for ages and then randomly did it again. So basically sometimes my PC trys to boot up and it makes a grinding noise before starting it sounds like its coming from the Optical disc drive. The computer does start up after the grinding but it takes a minute I feel for it to actually load the windows icon. Other times and this is 90% of the time my PC will start and boot up fully in about 30 seconds. I have no idea what it is and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. I think it could be the disk drive, maybe its trying to scan for a Disk when there is not one in there but after looking in my BIOS Boot up the diskdrive is not at the top of the list meaning there would be no reason for it to try and boot up. Thanks for future help.

I guess it could but its not coming from the lower end of the case, and it really does sound like a scanning disk drive. This happens 1 in every 20 boot ups. Im going to swap diskdrives and see if It continues
