Hi , I was having a long winded discussion in a gaming forum from my country. A ps4 user was raving about some Infamous Second son bullshots and gameplays. He stated that a game like Infamous wouldn't be able to run in a budget system like FX 4 core and 7790 / 7850 /650ti boost.

He would also state that if a mid range GPU cant max seventh gen games like Crysis 3 and Metro LL , they would struggle with a game like Infamous.

While Infamous looks really nice , we all tried to show him he was wrong : When the 750ti came out , it showed that it could run multiplats better than a PS4. Heck, Digital foundry made an article where a 7790 was toe to toe with the PS4. I think that in no way gaming requirements will jump from a 8800GT minimum to a 7850 just for the new consoles. PC hardware is way ahead and what happened is that consoles are catching up just now.
My theory is that all the horsepower gaming pcs have couldn't show off with most of the games from last gen. But if a PC can run Skyrim with those unoptimized texture mods or GTA IV with Icenhancer it would have no problem running a vanilla game that looks good without needing additional mods.

Heck I can downsample games like Tomb Raider to 1440p with my GTX 760 Amp and still run them at 30fps with a mix of high / max settings and the FPS obliterating , Tress FX activated.

What he does not understand is that new engines will make games look better with less strain on the systems.Does anybody around here have some insight in game development and hardware to provide me with some more info about this matter?

Feel free to move this thead to anywhere else if necessary

no pc can match a ps4's performance (total cost of the parts equal of the price of ps4) because in ps4 the entire components is dedicated to gaming.
normal os utilises 25-50% of a systems total processing power of unwanted things(for gamers)

if one could create an OS dedicated to gaming, then the pc will perform 3X better than the ps4 with components lower in grade than the ps4.

I am not seeing W7 being a resource hog honestly. Most of the time when idle , my CPU usage would go from 0 to 3 % and my RAM usage would be about 10 to 15%. PS4 has an OS too and it will have 2 cores and 2 GB of memory allocated to run.

PS4 is nice and all , but it ain't the second coming if you have a decent quadcore processor and a 250 USD GPU. Games like Killzone SF looked amazing in trailers but when the game was released , several flaws were found. Heck , multiplayer mode had it's resolution dialed down.

Seeing articles like the one from the Witcher devs stating that they have already maxed the machine , makes me think that the ps4 is not the powerhouse it's made up to be. Sure , it will be awesome if you did all your gaming in PS360.
