Hi there, I have an older model Dell Precision T5400, it currently has 1 x E5410 CPU, I'd like to upgrade to 2 x X5450 CPU's, is does have a slot for another CPU, how can I know for sure if my mother board will accept these CPU's? What other info do you need to know before you can help me with an answer?

Hi Mojo, another quick question, I now have my 2 x X5450's ready to install, but another question has occurred to me. My current E5410 CPU's max TDP is 80, the new X5450 CPU's TDP is 120.... Can I use my existing heatsinks, or do I have to upgrade them too? I don't want to mess this up.

I'm currently using the original passive heatsink with copper piping. I see that all the so called X5450 CPU upgrade kits are using this same heatsink, so it should be ok? I just want to ask an expert because I'd hate to fry my CPU, or motherboard.

I just answered my own question, I was able to install one of the X5450's, my second heat sink does not fit so I must sort that out before I can install the second. My X5450 is running about 30 degrees Celsius cooler than my old E5410. I put this down to using a better grade thermal transfer paste and probably doing a superior installation. Thanks for all the help Mojo, now all I need to do is locate a duplicate heat sink and I'm a-for-away.
