First, this is my first post here, so Hello everyone. So, I am trying to build a gaming PC to run BF4/Titanfall on high, and do some minor VBA programming and some other minor productivity tasks. I have a hand me down that I am hoping will bring down cost some. However, I'm going to need your help to steer me in the right direction here. Just to put some things in perspective, my last build was a P2 500 (MMX Baby!) with a Diamond Viper 32MB G770, among other ancient relics of the PC World. I need everything, including OS, so I need to make sure I'm not getting pieces I don't need.

Hand Me Down Components that should carry Over:
PSU: Antec EA-650
Case: Silverstone Steel Lascala Series SST-LC13B-E - I believe there could be some clearance issues with this case.
Optical Drive - Plextor Drive - as long as it reads and writes, I don't care
HDD: Samsung 500GB - Unsure of model number. ( May be replaced.)

Pieces to buy: (need help picking a decent MOBO, cooler, and 8GB RAM)

Went with a reference style cooler because of the small case. This will help keep the rest of the system cooler, and you should be fine with the stock cooler since you won't be overclocking.

By productivity I mainly mean Office and streaming movies. Would you still recommend the core i5 for this build? Its primary purpose will be gaming. If i can even shave more off, i have no issues with that. The only thing i wont compromise on are the GPU and RAM.

The i3-4130 is still fully capable of powering the 770 for gaming. Or you could save some money:

If I were to pick one of the solutions you have posted, I would go with the i5 build. What MOBO would you recommend with Optical Out? Thank you for all of your help with this.
