First time builder here who might be a little in over his head. I also may have overlooked something simple or made a terrible first timers mistake. Hopefully someone out there can help me before I try to ship back these parts.

I put together my build with all new parts about 2 weeks ago and I had absolutely no issues during this time. I was doing everything from web browsing to running Black Flag and Civ V on high settings seamlessly.

The build:
Asus m5a97 LE R2.0
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 2gb
G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM
CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V v2.3
Windows 8.1

Yesterday I was playing Civ V and the computer restarted for no reason. Windows booted without issue, so I tried again and it restarted again. This time I didn't open Steam at all and it crashed during normal web browsing. This put the system into a reboot loop where I could see the BIOS screen but it would crash and restart again before Windows would load.

Thinking there was an issue with the latest Windows update, I attempted to restore to a previous restore point. I also attempted "refreshing" the install with my USB drive and doing a complete wipe and reinstall.

After the fresh install, the computer would boot up to Windows but the display did not fill the screen. Changing the resolution did not help. I attempted downloading the newest Nvidia Drivers, which initially worked and the display returned to normal. However, within 10 minutes of the system being on, it fell into the reboot loop once again. I then assumed the issue was with this nvidia driver. Once I managed to fully boot up Windows again, I downloaded an older version of the driver. While attempting install, it crashed and fell into the reboot loop yet again before it was even finished. I unplugged the power supply and removed the graphics card to be sure it was firmly in place and the connector was attached correctly.

After reading some similar problems on this forum, I followed the instructions on the ASUS website for updating the BIOS. This was done successfully with the EZ flash tool provided in the BIOS on startup. I fixed the display issue again by downloading a stable driver from November 2013. The system rebooted and everything appeared normal.... for about 5 more minutes. Once again the system crashed and rebooted endlessly.

At this point, after hours attempting the above steps with no success, I shut the system down. I came back to attempt to start it up again and now the green motherboard light is flashing green, the fans (gpu, cpu and case) are all operating at a slower speed than usual, there is no beep and no display output to the monitor at all. I am completely out of ideas here. I handled all the parts very carefully during installation and there is no apparent damage. Could it be that my motherboard or graphics card are just defective? Or am I missing a simple fix here?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some advice here.
