I have intel i5 4570 , 4gb dd3 ram and gigabyte h87m-d3h motherboard . How much memory should I set for the intel hd 4600 to use if I don't want to play a lot of games but use mostly photoshop and illustrator ?
Presuming that you are changing it in your bios (I have the same motherboard, CPU, and graphics card but 8gb ram ), I gave mine 512mb, I found that 1024mb was a bit unstable as a few programs crashed every now and then. anyway 512 improved on the 32mb that was set by default
DVMT (Dynamic Video Memory Technology) automatically allocates vram from your system ram based of the demands per application and Intel does that. I think there is no way to set a static allocation of ram per application. http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-029090.htm#howmuch

You really aren't going to be gaming much at all with the IGP. I would recommend more ram for sure. 4gb is pretty low amount for Photoshop. You will want at least 8gb. Any gaming at all, you will want a dedicated graphics card.
