Hello! I have a Hp Pavilion a310n desktop computer. When looking at the specifications for the motherboard via this link:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07813&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=367687

...it says the motherboard supports up to 2gb of memory but HP/Compaq only recommends 1gb. I just wanted some ideas of why HP/Compaq recommends only 1gb despite it being able to support 2gb. Do you think it will damage any parts if try upgrading to 2gb? Thank you.

Buying old memory (which can get expensive, just because it's an old part) to upgrade and old PC is just like feeding roses to a pig. Take the money you would spend on the memory and put it towards a new PC.
