Might be a dumb question.... CPU & Mobo

I've got the following mobo and cpu, but I'm still waiting on the vid card to arrive in a few days. The mobo has onboard video ports used to support a CPU with an IGP. The CPU I'm using does not have a IGP. Thing is, I've got some time and would like to start assembling the build and testing components before the vid card arrives.

Here's my dumb question. Using a monitor, an I get a display on this mobo/cpu without a video card and without an IGP on the CPU? In other words, will the mobo ports still work with the assumption they will run on the processing power of the CPU?

Mobo: GA-B85-HD3:

CPU: Xeon E3 1230 V3

GPU: Sapphire R9 290 Tri-x OC (100362-2SR)

Solution
You wont get a display without attaching your R9 290. The system may or may not start without a GPU. Either way you wont be able to do anything. With your E3 1230 v3 the video outs on the motherboard are pointless.

Thanks for the solution. That's what I wanted to know.

Merely as a point of curiosity, I'm surprised you say it wouldn't "start". I'm sure there are cases (no pun intended) when someone would want to run a PC with no need for a display.
