Hello, I have been looking to upgrade to an SSD for a while now. I never wanted to spend the money though, but now the Crucial M500 240GB (on amazon) is now $119 in the USA. I was just wondering about the life span of an SSD. When they first came out I remember people saying that they had a lifespan of 15+ years. Now i hear people saying they last about 2 years+. I plan to use the SSD for games and the OS (win 8.1), I just returned a WD 1tb black since it died and I had a warranty and now I'm wondering if I should add the SSD to make a hybrid hhd and ssd. I do plan to keep the SSD about 75% full, and use the HDD for movies, game recording, and music.

Solution
First get the SSD. They are very good.
Do not worry about SSD life. A 200+ GB SSD will last the life of your computer.
I read into SSD life and nobody really knows if SSDs really have short lives.
SSDs are limited to writes. I think it is about 1000 TB of writes.
By the time your reach that your computer will be worthless and the SSD will be very out of date.
I recommend that you store all of your files (Movies, Photos, ETC) on a second HDD.
That will make writing to your SSD less and give it a much longer life span.
DO NOT worry about it. An SSD will outlive your computer.
They will last much longer then HDDs because they have new moving parts.
An SSD will last forever if you do not reach the max write limit.
If your using a laptop you...

If your using a laptop you can get a $10 adapter that will convert your CD drive bay into a HDD bay.
On a desktop just plug it in one of the empty SATA ports.
Stay away from WD. They are junk. I have had nothing but problems with them.
Go with the SSD. You will be fine. Enable TRIM on the SSD and it will last the lifetime + of your computer.
Happy Computing! 

Thanks for replying, I think I will get the SSD, and use the WD for media purposes. This will be going into my desktop (i7 3770k, GTX 780). Also should I keep programs like disk cleaners, photoshop, winrar, ect on the SSD or HDD?

All Programs should be on the SSD including Photoshop ETC. If you put them on the HDD they will be slow.
All Programs need to be installed on the SSD. That sounds like a good idea. (Keep all data/files on the WD HDD)
Remember to pick a best a solution. :)
