I have 2 harddrives. A 500 GB and 160 GB and both are sata and both are full.I also have a extra sata harddrive that's 160 GB. My pc can only take 2 sata cables and only one ide cable but the ide cable has two ports. one port is being used by my dvd drive.but I still have one port extra. Is there anyway I can connect the sata harddrive to the ide cable.thanx for any help

Solution
there are ways to connect the sata to the ide port using an adapter, but i dont recommend it. Sata harddrives do use the bandwith of SATA ports so i'd recommend getting a bigger drive, say a terabyte and replacing the smallest serial ata drive you have. Western Digital Black 1TB drives are a reasonalbe price and come with a 5 year warranty.

Yes, you will need an IDE to SATA adapter but why the hell would you put SATA drive on an IDE cable is beyond me.

You may as well buy a PCI SATA expansion card and connect the sata drive to it. It will add more SATA ports to your computer depending on the card and be faster than IDE.
