Hi,
My desktop PC went down yesterday and the guy in PC repair store told me my motherboard has a short circuit after diagnostic.
I currently have: AMD Athlon 4x CPU (AM3+ socket) and Geforce GTX 560ti GPU and 500W power supply.
now that I need a repair, I think I want to upgrade my CPU to AMD FX6300 as well.
So what motherboard shall I choose for my gear:
AMD FX 6300 CPU, Geforce GTX 560Ti GPU, and 500W peer supply
Any advices please?
Thank you.
Joe

This is a very good mobo for your budget.

Tradesman mentioned its price to be around 150 USD but if you consider the mail-in-rebate from newegg then the price becomes around 115 USD.

The main difference between a cheap and expensive mobo is the features. cheap mobo doesn't come with many features.

For ex, this 80 USD mobo will work fine with your FX 6300 CPU but won't let you overclock it and doesn't have SLI support.

But the board I mentioned before has these two features and also has two extra SATA ports.

There are other features like...

There are plenty of motherboards that will suit your need. We need to know your exact budget to recommend you one... Please mention your max budget for the Mobo and also let us know know if you are interested in overclocking your CPU, Bcoz that will require a different set of Mobos..

whats the difference between that $150 mobo and $90 mobo? what is the main factor(s) of mobos that I want to look at?
I am also worried about if the new motherboard can fit into my main box frame. Are those mobos the same size?

There are other features like better power designs and thermal solutions but they are not that necessary to keep in mind unless you are eyeing for enthusiast grade performance.

So, its upto you what features you want and choose accordingly..

Size of the motherboards can vary widely from Mini-itx [the smallest] to XL-ATX [the largest]. However they are less common. The two most common form factor used in consumer PCs are micro-ATX and ATX.
So you must find out first what form factor mobo you had earlier to avoid any compatibility issue. Both the motherboards I mentioned in the previous post are of ATX form factor.
