Hi!

Help me decide
6790 used, can get for half of 7770
7770 good, mantle supported too
R7 260x stretches my budget but I would not buy it if it's bottlenecks by

Athlon 2 x4 @3.5g
4GB ram
1tb hdd
Corsair 450 W

Solution
Your best bet is either the 6790 + 4 GB RAM or just an R7 260x. The thing that the 6790 has going for it is the wider memory bus 256 vs 128, this allows it to stay in contention with the 7770. According to the benchmarks, the cards are a toss-up; both performing about the same. So, take the cheaper card and save your money for more Ram. A resolution of 1600 x 900 is insignificant with most cards now. Most gamers are using 1920 x 1080 or higher.
FFS why is everyone hung up on 'bottlenecks' does anyone here actually understand what it means and that there will always be bottlenecks. Period. End of Story. Always. You can spend $4000 on a system and there will be a bottleneck.

in the realm of rolling upgrades every 2-3 years then bottlenecks are not a bad thing.

Windows 7 x64. Don't bother with the budget because I am from India and prices vary here hugely (on the higher side. 260x costs about $180).

I do understand how a system is always bottlenecked. I just wanted to know if the bottleneck was large enough to so as to eliminate the need for higher powered gfx card.

Also note that I am from India and do not usually upgrade my computer once 2-3 years. (My current gfx card is R HD 4670)

this was also my first thought, but the used card has an expired warranty (its pretty old, being bought in 2011). Also because its based on older arch (barts) it consumes more power (no mantle? Is this even relevant here?)

Also I forgot to mention one thing. I have a 1600x900 monitor.
