I've been attempting to Play Titanfall recently on my Sapphire Radoen 7870 2GB OC Edition, and have been black screening and receiving a message that "A device driver has stopped responding and has recovered". This sometimes also happens to Planetside 2, but so far i have not been able to play Titanfall at all. All of my other games run very well. I have tested my ram, installed, reinstalled, and rolled back my drivers, tested my PSU, monitored temps, messed with my registry, etc. I have a 6 core, 3.9 GHz processor. Do I have to wait for a new driver from AMD that supports Titanfall? Do I need to RMA my graphics card? Has anyone else had this issue? I have tried literally every other trick I have read and nothing has worked.

Solution
ok i think it is a problem with the game its self. there are alot of people having issues with this game

first and foremost check and see if there are any updates for the game. there may already be a patch to fix this issue. but seeing how it is EA and track record with BF4 i doubt it

there are some random fixes though,

one person updated their bios and it worked for them

playing in windowed mode fixed this issue for this tech site(also disabling insane textures)

this person has a bunch of setting adjustments you can try (most are for nvidia card but you can try amd...

Have you tried doing a full clean of your drivers using Driver Sweeper and then getting the latest (Beta) drivers from AMD? And like thunderdan asked, can you play other games other than those two just fine?

I can run games on max settings for hours if I can get them to start, and none of the ghosting/restarts that typically happen with a faulty power supply happen. I have reinstalled drivers, tried to reinstall direct x, reinstalled/verified the Titanfall cache and nothing has worked. I used to get this problem a lot when I would play Battlefield 4 or League of Legends, but I have only had it happen to Battlefield once in the past month. Planetside 2 is playable, but Titanfall, what I really want to play, wont get past the opening screen.

Just did everything, went into safemode and uninstalled all of my drivers using guru 3d. Installed beta drivers, received a message upon installation that the installation had been completed but there were warnings raised. Checked log, no errors. Got anything else?

I clean installed both the 13.12 version of the driver and the beta 14.3 version of the driver, both of which didn't help. I have ran memtest86 and another memory diagnostic tool, along with pulling each memory unit out of my motherboard to test if that was the issue. I don't understand what is going on, why is it just Titanfall? I can send you the logs if that would help, although I'm not sure what good that will do.

The beta version of the latest AMD driver, 14.3, gave me the AMD gaming app. I used the app to "optimize" my game settings, see if it would do anything. The app optimized Titanfall to its max settings, saying that my hardware would run best at them. Titanfall didn't even make it to the start screed, so I tried reverting. Only got to the same spot as before and it crashed. Shouldn't this card run better than this?

I have attempted to play in windows mode, although it appears my BIOS is old. I have attempted to download them from the gigabyte website, and the .zip file says that it is not compatible.

I went and used the graphics suggestions given on the reddit thread. I enabled the v-sync in game and in catalyst, and I was able to join a game. However, right as the game began my computer froze. At least this is a step in the right direction.

sorry,

bf4 has had cpu and memory issues for 5 months now and EA still hasnt released a patch for it. so you ca keep trying different quick fixes and see if it helps but until they actually fix this issue it will most likely persist. unless someone else has some ideas on here
